Carotid Angioplasty - All You Need to Know

Carotid Angioplasty is a procedure used to treat clogged arteries in the brain that have restricted blood flow over time. To prevent strokes and restore adequate blood supply to the brain, the patients are given medication. What are the carotid arteries' locations? Carotid arteries can be found on both sides of the spine. They are the most prominent blood vessels in the brain. The internal carotid artery carries oxygenated blood to the brain and eyes, among other vital organs.  When do the carotid arteries need to be treated? Carotid Angioplasty and care are done when a stroke happens in the brain. When blood flow into the carotid arteries is wholly cut off, a stroke occurs, requiring immediate medical attention since brain cells begin to die within minutes. How does a carotid angioplasty procedure work? The arteries in the neck are used to insert a long hollow tube into the shortened carotid artery. A filter is installed during Carotid Angioplasty to catch any debris that might b
